The Harsh Realities of Pizza Marketing
Most Local Business Marketing is Boring
The number one thing about most local business marketing and the reason that it doesn’t work for most local businesses is that it’s really, really boring.
I hate to tell you, but your marketing is probably boring. It’s as simple as that.
Here’s the thing: it’s fixable.
When you are a local business, of course, you want to talk about yourself and about what you do and how you do it, but the internet is a busy place and we need to cut through the noise. So in order to make your business stand out, you need to make sure that your marketing isn’t boring.
What do I mean by boring? Boring is posting the same thing over and over without mixing it up at all. Also boring is not really thinking about the context of the marketing to the platform that you’re posting on.
Digital Marketing Takes Time
So many business owners want it to work immediately. Building a digital presence is the best thing that you can do for your business but it’s also the most long term thing that you need to do. . It’s not like a mailing campaign where you can send out a thousand mailers or 10,000 mailers and get some sort of response right away. Digital marketing is a long term strategy that will reap even more rewards once it’s done consistently and effectively.
Consistency is Key To Success
Consistency is the most important thing that you can do for your business, right? Consistent with your product, consistent with your hours, consistent with your marketing, is what matters.
Social media is a place where people go to hang out. You want to be friendly, funny, and entertaining to have your customers want to hang out with you on a regular basis. If you’re being inconsistent with how you post your customers aren’t going to hang out with you because they’re not going to know when you’ll be there.
Not All Content Contains a Tangible ROI
Social media is not direct mail
It is not postcard marketing
It is not email marketing.
It is not text message marketing.
Social media is building your brand. Social media is helping you get immersed in your community over the long term. There’s not a tangible ROI for all social media content and if you’re looking for a tangible ROI for every single post you do on social media, your social media isn’t going to work. If you try to get an ROI out of every single post, at some point, people are going to tune you out.
Consumers Are Tired of Overproduced Video and Photos
Consumers are tired of overproduced photos and videos. You don’t need to get all fancy, all you need to use is your camera that you have on your smartphone. Save photos and videos as you work daily and then post them to social media at the appropriate time.
That’s it.
Don’t make it more complicated than that.
