How To Build A Great Team
I recently had the opportunity to be a guest on Smart Pizza Marketing, where I discussed the difficulty in finding the right person for the job of manager. As a restaurant owner and franchise executive with over 20 years of experience in the pizza industry, I have seen firsthand how challenging it can be to find someone qualified and motivated to take on this important role.
In the podcast, I shared three tips for building a management team that will take care of your business:
- The job should look inspiring and rewarding so people will want to take it.
- The leader needs to be inspiring and someone others admire.
- I suggest creating a system that develops individuals into leaders instead of trying to find the perfect person for the job.
Make the Job Look Inspiring and Rewarding
You need to make the job look appealing when looking for a manager. This means highlighting the positive aspects of the position, such as the opportunity to be part of a growing company, the chance to make a difference in the community, and the potential for financial rewards. You also need to be clear about the expectations of the role, including the hours, responsibilities, and qualifications.
Be an Inspiring Leader
The best managers are those who can inspire and motivate their team members. They can create a positive work environment where people feel valued and respected. They can also set a clear vision for the future and rally their team.
Create a System for Developing Leaders
If you can’t find the perfect person for the job of manager, don’t despair. There are several things you can do to develop your leaders. One way is to create a system for identifying and nurturing potential leaders. This could involve providing opportunities for training and development and giving them responsibility for projects and tasks that will stretch them.
Finding the right manager is not easy, but it is essential for the success of your business. Following these tips can increase your chances of finding someone qualified, motivated, and inspiring.
In addition to the tips I shared in the podcast, I would like to add a few more thoughts on how to find a manager to take your place.
- Be patient. It may take some time to find the right person.
- Be bold and hire someone who is new to the industry. With the proper training and support, they can be as successful as someone with more experience.
- Be willing to invest in your team. The more you invest in their development, the more likely they will stay with your company and help you achieve your goals.
I hope these tips help you in your search for a manager. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
