6 Marketing Ideas for Your Restaurant or Pizzeria

6 Marketing Ideas for Your Restaurant or Pizzeria

In 2016, we wrote a blog post discussing six marketing ideas for your restaurant. It gets a lot of traffic to our website however, there are a few things we wrote that are not relevant to marketing your restaurant moving forward.

So, we want to update and give you some marketing ideas that you can use in your restaurant, or pizzeria, right now. We’re going to go through and give you five or six ideas of what’s working today and what we see working with our agency and our mastermind group members.

#1 Facebook video ads.

Facebook video ads are still a tremendous way to get your message out. And the competition is very low. If you are in a town of about five to ten restaurants or pizzerias, I can almost guarantee that none of them or very few of them are using video advertising on Facebook.

What this does is it gives you the ability to use your phone to create short 60 second videos, post them on Facebook, and spend $20 to $50 promoting those videos in front of people who live within one mile or two-mile radius around your restaurant.

This does two things for you; it gets you exposure for the video and it builds an audience for you to retargeting with ads later.

#2 Re-Targeting

You should be creating custom audiences based on engagement and video views for your Facebook page. Target those people with advertising so that you’re selling them things not cold selling to people who just watch your video.

So here’s how it works. You choose a video you posted on Facebook, you spend $20 to $50 boosting that video in front of people who live in your area, depending on how big your radius is of your customer base. Then Facebook creates an audience based on people who’ve watched 3, 10, or 15 seconds of that video. After that, you can sell those people ads because they are interested in what you do and how you do it.

#3 Facebook bots.

Facebook bots are a great way to build subscribers on your Facebook page. You can use tools like ManyChat or Chat Fuel to connect your Facebook page and start building subscribers.

What you do is create a post and after you’ve attached ManyChat or Chat Fuel to your Facebook page, ask a question and tell them to leave a comment. With that comment they become or you can build subscribers on your Facebook page with these tools using the growth tool. Check out this blog post or this video right here where we explain how to do it.

The cool thing about Facebook subscribers is right now when you send a broadcast to people’s Facebook Messenger, we get about an 80 to 95% open rate and a 40 to 50% click-through rate. When you compare that to email, email, on average gets about a 20% open rate in a one to 2% click-through rate. So if you’re not using Facebook Messenger advertising, you’re making a big mistake

#4 Instagram swipe up advertising

The great thing about Instagram Story advertising is that you have 100% of the person’s attention consuming that information. Let’s say you go to your Instagram stories and you see those circles at the top of your feed and then you start viewing people’s stories. When you see something in between, and it’s someone that you’re not following, it’s an ad. You can easily set up an ad of your own inside of the Facebook ads platform, advertising 10 to 15-second videos telling people to do something.

They get up a tremendous amount of click through and engagement. So if you’re not doing Instagram story ads right now, you’re making a big mistake and you’re missing out on a ton of interaction.

#5 Instagram Stories

Consistently create Instagram stories. I know that sometimes we use Instagram for advertising in the feed, we take a nice pretty picture we posted there and add some hashtags and cross our fingers and hope for the best. However, if you’re not showing people behind the scenes, how you cook certain items, or what you do in your business on a daily basis on Instagram stories, you’re missing out on an opportunity to engage with people who may not be looking at your Instagram feed.

Instagram has two different audiences. People who look at the feed and scroll through it and people who view stories. People who are viewing stories are much more engaged than the people passively looking at your Instagram feed.

So try to consistently create two to seven Instagram Stories every single day for your business. And if you’re too busy, or you don’t want to do it yourself, have your team help you do it. Being consistent will help you see some growth on your account. And if you don’t see growth, you’ll at least see a ton more interaction on your Instagram page

#5 Engage, Engage, Engage

And the final tip for marketing in 2018 for your restaurant or pizza is engage, engage, engage. Engagement on social media is the name of the game. It allows you to increase your organic reach with the algorithms that Instagram, Facebook, Twitter all have. And it’s a great way to build a relationship with your potential customers over time. Now, what you want to do is spend 10, 15, or 20 minutes every single day.

Listen, I know it sounds like a lot of work. But it’s called work. And the only way for things in social media to work is to put as much work in as you wish to get back. So spend some time every single day commenting, interacting, and sharing with people who are not only in your community but also in your industry. Over time you will see your social profiles grow and the engagement on your own social profiles will increase by you engaging with others.
